Merge Point Marketing Wendy Tepley

Wendy Tepley

Wendy began her career in Montreal, Quebec, Canada after graduating from the Interior Design program at Dawson College. Her skill at understanding and assimilating the requirements of interior spaces made her a natural in the commercial planning field where she worked for over ten years for an agency, the office furniture manufacturer Herman Miller, and then finally independently where she worked with many pharmaceutical clients including Merck (formerly Merck Frosst) and Pfizer. Wendy moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, in 2006 and entered an entirely new field by working as an executive assistant for a fundraising startup. The company, SchoolHeart, pioneered an online discount card to support nonprofits. This experience allowed Wendy to start learning how to market in an increasingly digital world. It was during this time that she began to explore web design and development, and social media management. In 2013 she embarked on the digital marketing phase of her career with a startup called BizWire. In 2016, Wendy co-founded the digital marketing agency BOS Digital in Raleigh. The business expanded over the next few years and in 2019 it became part of a larger agency, Bos Klein. Throughout the 10+ years of her agency career, Wendy excelled at helping clients establish a strong online presence and align their sales and marketing goals to produce measurable results. After a year and a half sabbatical from the digital marketing world, Wendy is stepping back into the arena with her business partner, Ryan Mayer. Their new venture, Merge Point Marketing, provides unbiased advice and solutions to help small businesses be competitive and successful in a complex and evolving digital landscape. Wendy is also pursuing a certification in human design with the BG5 Business Institute. She is passionate about empowering leaders and professionals to be the best version of themselves by understanding how they are designed to work, communicate, and make decisions. In her spare time Wendy loves to read and has recently helped several authors edit their books. Eventually, she hopes to find time to write her own!

Merge Point Marketing Ryan Mayer

Ryan Mayer

Ryan graduated in 1993 from Rutgers University School of Business where he majored in accounting, with a minor in marketing. His path after graduation led him to a startup in the manufacturing of custom commercial cabinetry and millwork. As a project manager, he handled the company’s larger customers which included casinos, hospitals, and courthouses. Ryan's early experience instilled in him the importance of genuinely caring for customers' needs and meticulously attending to details. A cherished teenage aspiration of joining the police force materialized when, after four years in his initial post-university role, an unforeseen phone call presented him with the chance to pursue admission to the police academy in Camden County, New Jersey. Ryan’s illustrious career as a police officer brought many accolades but more importantly the knowledge and aptitude for always finding a way to handle and solve complex situations. Ryan’s drive was on full display during this period of his career. In addition to his service on the police force, he ventured into entrepreneurship, founding a flourishing nutrition store, launching a widely acclaimed fitness magazine, and authoring a children’s book that earned honorable mention at the 2011 NYC Book Festival. After dedicating 14 years to law enforcement, he faced an unforeseen layoff. Undeterred, Ryan, now a father of three young girls, made a deliberate choice to leave the hazards of police work in consideration of his family's well-being. Drawing upon his minor in marketing, Ryan assumed the role of director of marketing for the large CPA firm of Blackman & Sloop in North Carolina. There, he significantly increased the firm’s referral business by fostering an extensive network of professional relationships. His entrepreneurial spirit was always present, so after four years at the CPA firm, Ryan founded Mayer Marketing. He did so with the full endorsement of his employer, who became one of his first clients. Mayer Marketing’s client list expanded steadily, quickly surpassing 40, as the firm offered a range of services from strategic marketing plans and budgets to full-scale branding projects. Their clients came from a variety of industries, including legal, accounting, medical practices, spas and salons, financial institutions, non-profit organizations, private investigation, and more. Ryan's professional career for the past several years had been focused on the building materials industry where he was providing solutions for contractors and lumber yards. However, his creativity and passion for marketing sparked him to partner with Wendy Tepley to launch a new venture, Merge Point Marketing. Knowing the digital world is a constant challenge, they provide independent guidance and actionable strategies for small businesses to stay ahead of the curve. Beyond his entrepreneurial pursuits, Ryan finds enjoyment in staying active through workouts, exploring new destinations through travel, prioritizing time in nature with his dog Sunny, and simply enjoying cooking. However, his greatest joy comes from spending time with his three daughters.
